Exploring the natural world

This week in preschool, we explored different natural materials. We started by going on trips and collecting different materials that they could find. We collected lots of different leaves, flowers, twigs and even some rosemary! The children really enjoyed finding different plants and said “look it’s a yellow flower” and “look there’s a dandelion!” We brought the materials back to the nursery and made lots of different artworks! The children split into groups and made frames, wands, and wreaths. The children used their fine motor skills to cut, stick and wrap the string. To make the frames the children used their fine motor skills to string round the different twigs to make their frame. They then used the sticky paper to stick on their frames and then used their flowers to stick these onto their frames. The next table made magic wands using wooden lollipop sticks. They used glue to stick on their sticks and then also used the natural flowers to stick these onto their wands. The last table made natural wreaths with the flowers they collected and enjoyed selecting and placing these onto their wreaths.
