Ice Painting

The Ladybirds explored a new form of mark making.

The used frozen coloured ice sticks to make marks on paper.

The children explored a range of movements to make marks such as lines and circles.

The children gave meanings to the marks they made by saying circle or mummy.

The marks began to change as the ice started melting.

The children watched the water drip onto the paper and spread it with their hands.

The children talked about the change in state by commenting its melting.

The children also talked about the cold ice and used new vocabulary such as freezing.

The colours began to mix as the ice melted and the children mixed them together.
