A B C HUNT 🔠

Today in preschool, we built on the children’s interests by having group conversations about different letters and the sounds they make. The children were very engaged as they shared their ideas about what objects begin with certain letters, particularly ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’. Many were excited to talk about familiar things from their own lives, such as animals, toys, and foods, which helped make the discussion meaningful and relevant to them.
Following this, we carried out a practical activity where the children searched the room for objects beginning with ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply their ideas from the discussion and further develop their letter recognition skills. The children showed great enthusiasm as they explored the environment, working both independently and with their peers to find items and name them.
This activity supported their early literacy development by strengthening their understanding of initial sounds and letter recognition. It also encouraged communication and language skills, as the children engaged in conversations with both adults and peers, sharing their findings and thinking. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, interactive, and developmentally appropriate, helping to reinforce learning through play and active exploration.
