Letter phonics

The Preschool children have been preparing for their school transition and have enjoyed a range of different activities around their letters and sounds.

The children thoroughly enjoyed adding letters into the water and adding them to the freezer. Throughout the activity the children discussed the changes of texture and used their brainstorm boards to think about what might happen next when the water is added to the freezer.

The children loved retrieving their frozen letters and using their small tools they chipped and cracked the ice to find the different letters.

To extend on this the children were keen to name the sound and match it to their paper chart following their pencil control activity.

Why not try this at home you can extend with word formations or numeral recognition.
