London Transport

This week preschool investigated tube maps and how we can navigate all the different kinds of trains using these maps. We spoke about all of the train lines there are, and the children named some they knew, being the “Central line, Elizabeth line and the Circle line.”

We took the time to have some discussions about where we have all travelled to using the different train lines, and spoke about what kind of trains they were, whether they were underground or overground.

For our activity we decided to make our own train map and stations using large scale drawings. The preschoolers used felt tip pens and practiced their fine motor skills, making their own versions of train tracks, platforms, and train signs. The children used different coloured pens to associate with the train lines. We also used visuals of real life train stations and signs to show the children.

Finally we role played with our big sheet of artwork and used trains to role play along the paper, making the trains ‘stop off at the stations to let passengers on or off the train.’ Well done preschool for your great interactions with this activity!
