Fine Motor Pumpkins

The Ladybirds went to the supermarket to select a range of different seized pumpkins.

They picked them up exploring the weight of them.

Then they took them to the till to pay.

And returned the pumpkins to nursery.

Back at nursery the children used golf tees to insert them into the pumpkins.

Using a pincer grasp with thumb and finger to insert into the pumpkin.

Using fine motor skills and high levels of hand eye co-ordination.

Some children practised pushing them in with wooden hammers.

Tapping the golf tee's gently to insert them into the pumpkin.

Exploring an element of risky play.

Children were highly engaged in the activity. Persisting when difficulties occurred.
