Exploring Loose Parts

This week the Ladybirds have been exploring patterns and categorising objects using loose parts.

The children were given a range of loose parts including buttons, shells, corks, wooden rings, gems and lids to play with.

The Ladybirds were also given wooden photo frames as a base for their activity.

The children developed language skills by learning new words and repeating them.

The Ladybirds explored various ways to play with and organise the objects.

Some children placed them around the edges of the frame, others balanced them on top of each other and some children begin to categorise them according to colour, shape or size.

Some of the children also gave meaning to their creations, naming what they had made.
