Drill Painting

The Grasshoppers took part in a new kind of painting as they looked at how to make marks whilst using machines and build up strength in their arms and hands to support them with early writing skills. The children used a paintbrush attached to a drill to make marks with paint on paper. They manipulated the drill, holding it with two hands and using both their fine and gross motor skills to hold the drill in place and also press down on the button to operate the drill and make the paint brush spin. The children used high levels of concentration to take part in the risky play activity and managed the risk well. A range of marks were made on the paper and colours were selected and mixed together as the children explored the media and materials and their Expressive Art & Design Development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
