Pancake Day

The children celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes. They started by using a pancake recipe to carefully follow simple instructions. The instructions included adding flour, pouring milk, adding fruit and the children explored weight and capacity as they used mearing scales and measuring spoons to weight and then transfer ingredients to the mixing bowl. The children mixed the ingredients together to make a smooth pancake mix. Once it was ready the children used different types of pancake makers and frying pans to cook their pancakes. With the support of practitioners the children poured the mixture onto the pancake maker to cook. Children excitedly moved and flipped the pancakes on the pancake makers. The children excitedly practiced flipping their pancakes and catching them successfully. Children were very careful around the hot kitchen equipment. Managing their own risk and behaving in a regulated way to be able to use the equipment. Well done everyone.
