Jack and the Beanstalk

The Butterflies have been enjoying the story Jack and the Beanstalk. The children read the familiar story multiple times and started to be able to re-tell repetitive parts of the story and and repetitive rhymes such as fe fi fo fum. Children wore masks of various characters and took on a role as they repeated parts of the story belonging to their character.  The Butterflies extended upon this further by planting their own beans. The children followed simple instructions to plant their bean plants. The children talked about what might happen to the bean and made predictions some of the children linking their perditions to the story. The children looked at the life cycle of a bean and drew their predictions on paper making marks and giving meaning to the marks they made. The children will continue to care for their bean plants as they grow into beanstalks!
