Making our own Fossils

The Grasshoppers decided to create their own fossils using salt dough.

The children had individual bowls to create their dough.

They added flour, salt and water at their own choice to make the dough.

They used trial and error to get tot he right consistency.

They made comments as they did this such as "it looks like porridge" and "it's wet, it needs more flour." Mathematical skills as used to pour the ingredients.

Once the dough had reached the right consistency the children pushed in shapes such as dinosaurs. Everyone looked at the print it left. We then used the children's oven to bake the dough.

Everyone talked about oven safety and explored their own risk assessment.

We waited for them to cook and explored a fossil tray.
