This week the nursery celebrated Diwali the Hindu festival of light. The children thoroughly enjoyed a range of activities and learning all about the festival and why it is celebrated. The nursery focused on the story of Rama and Sita and the children were keen to ask questions about the lights in the houses that guided Rama and Sita home.
The children enjoyed making their own diva lamps using salt dough. The children moulded their lamps to fit in the tea light and researched examples using the children's laptop.
The children researched Rangoli patterns and enjoyed creating their own large-scale pattern with adult support and then the children observed their diva lamps lighting up which resembled the researched images.
The children decorated their diva lamps to take home to share with their families for Diwali.
The children in the baby room enjoyed colourful rice exploration and the Toddler room enjoyed creating their colour rice collages.
