Sarbdip's Sikh Workshop

Roya's Grandma Sarbdip kindly came in to talk to the children about being Sikh. She spoke about the 5 rules of being Sikh which included:

  • Kesh (uncut hair)
  • Kara (a steel bracelet)
  • Kanga (a wooden comb)
  • Kaccha - also spelt, Kachh, Kachera (cotton underwear)
  • Kirpan (steel sword)

The children were able to explore a traditional steel sward and explore what this looked and felt like.

Sarbdip also talked to the children about the golden temple and what it is like to go there and how they pray.

Thank you Sarbdip!
