Arctic and Antarctic Exploration

Arctic and Antarctic Exploration

This week the babies enjoyed exploring and learning about animals that live in the arctic and Antarctic. For our exhibition we first looked at pictures of the animals in their cold habitat. We looked at penguins, polar bears, seals, Walrus, arctic fox and even a beluga whale. We then explored our very own arctic themed tuft tray. We really enjoyed exploring different textures in our snowy cold tray. We explored sticky cornflour that was our sea and enjoyed making some of the animals swim. We felt cold slimy, wet ice that we used to make marks in the cornflour and enjoyed looking at the shapes and colours we could see through it. Then used our fine motor skills to sprinkle our jelly baff snow over the animals and the tray. We also enjoyed pointing and looking at the different animals displayed around the tray.

To conclude our arctic and Antarctic exploration we explored themed sensory bags where we could use our gross and fine motor skills to find the fish and sea creatures hidden in the water.
