Today, the grasshoppers welcomed the autumn season with a wonderful activity of making their own chicken pies for tea!
We began by preparing our savoury pie fillings, creating both vegetarian and meat options. The grasshoppers showed great care when using the hot plates, being cautious not to touch them or the pans. They listened attentively to Chelsea, following her instructions carefully as they cooked each ingredient. The children thoroughly enjoyed having a role in the cooking process, sharing the tasks of cooking Quorn, chicken, vegetables, and spices.
Once the fillings were prepared, the children took turns scooping them into their pie dishes and topping them with pastry. They enjoyed brushing the pastry with egg wash and decorating their pies with lovely leaf-shaped cutouts.
After the pies were baked to golden perfection, the children eagerly served themselves and relished eating their delicious creations!
