Washing the germs away

🦠 ✋🏽Washing the germs away -

This week the toddlers took part in a fun, knowledgeable activity of washing germs away. Now this was such a timely, common and useful activity for the children to cooperate in and gain understanding from because they are at the stage where they love exploring a variety of textures, sensory feels, and essentially mess!😆

So to encourage their understanding of hygiene & cleanliness, we gathered some items for the children to practically clean dirt off themselves. To do this, we filled up some gloves with water - using variety of colours to simultaneously explore colours too. Then using coffee bits to represent the dirt and germs, we sprinkled it on top of all the gloves which interprets their own hands, along with bowls full of bubbles to wash them away.

Furthermore, their task was a great exercise for their physical development and practice of using their fine motor skills, by the use of sponges - scrubbing, rubbing, pinching, pressing and more.

Overall, this was an essential learning opportunity for the children to practice self cleanliness as they’re at the growing age of wanting to explore and play. This too is a healthy reminder to them of examples like, washing hands and using soap, tissues, wipes and more! Well done children ! 😊
