For Week 7 of our bread making sessions, the nursery children had the opportunity to make delicious Bao buns! The children explored the different ingredients, taking turns to scoop, pour, and weigh them before following the recipe to create their dough. They enjoyed getting hands-on with the process, mixing, kneading, and feeling how the texture of the dough changed as they worked with it. After allowing the dough time to rise, the children were fascinated to see how it had grown and discussed the changes they noticed. They then shaped their own bao buns with increasing independence before watching them being cooked. Throughout the activity, the children developed their fine motor skills, explored early mathematical concepts through weighing and measuring, and used communication and language skills as they shared their ideas and observations. The children showed great curiosity, patience, and confidence as they continued to develop their baking skills through our ongoing bread-making sessions.
