1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive

The babies have recently shown a strong interest in water play, so we created a water with toy fish, number resources, and fishing nets. We sang and signed "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive" while encouraging the babies to use the nets to catch the fish. They were supported throughout the activity, building their confidence as they explored the resources.
The activity promoted the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration as the babies carefully manoeuvred the fishing nets. Singing and signing alongside the activity supported their communication and language development, while introducing early mathematical concepts such as counting and number recognition in a playful, engaging way. The sensory experience of the water also encouraged curiosity and exploration.
