Painting Our Friends
In preschool, the children really enjoyed spending time in the garden using the see-through painting easel to draw portraits of their friends. They sat opposite each other, with the transparent easel in between them, and carefully looked at their friend’s face before painting what they could see directly onto the easel.
The children had lots of fun noticing different features, such as their friends’ eyes, noses, mouths and hair. They chose different colours and used lines and shapes to create their portraits. There was lots of excitement, laughter and friendly conversation as they painted together in the fresh air.
It was a lovely and enjoyable activity that encouraged the children to be creative, observe carefully and express themselves through art, while also giving them the opportunity to spend time with their friends and enjoy the outdoor environment.
