We have continued to explore our autumn theme through a colourful painting activity using beautiful autumnal colours. The babies were provided with a selection of autumn-coloured paints alongside real leaves to explore. We also placed a plastic sheet decorated with artificial autumn leaves underneath our activity area to create an additional visual display and help bring the seasonal theme to life.
The babies were offered paintbrushes to experiment with but were also encouraged to use their hands to explore the paint, allowing them to experience the different textures and sensations. They particularly enjoyed making marks on the different surfaces and discovering how the paint felt against their hands and fingers.
This activity supported the babies' sensory exploration, hand-eye coordination and fine motor development, while also encouraging creativity and curiosity through messy play.
