Life Cycle of a Caterpillar
This week in the toddler room, the children explored the life cycle of a caterpillar. We followed the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which helped introduce key concepts in a fun and engaging way. The children enjoyed learning about sequences through the story, including the days of the week and the different stages of the caterpillar’s life cycle.
To extend their learning, the children took part in a sorting tuft tray activity. They used tongs and magnifying glasses to carefully sort different representations of the caterpillar life cycle into bowls. This activity supported the development of their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early scientific understanding.
The children also explored a playdough activity, where they moulded and shaped their own caterpillars, adding different textures to create legs and eyes. This encouraged creativity and imaginative play.
Well done, toddlers!
