Room on the Broom Comes to Life

The babies have been busy exploring the Room On The Broom story. To expand on the babies interest in the story and the different pictures they could see they took part in a wonderful sensory activity where they explored character props and some sensory play. They really showed enjoyment when they explored the texture of the oats as there were lots of smiles and babbling as they played. While exploring the tray they were able to use their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination to mix and transfer using spoons and the cauldrons. While the children explored the sensory tray they listened to the book being read to them which enabled them to link the props they were using to the characters they could see in the book.

Throughout this experience the babies were able to expand their communication and language skills through listening to new words from the story and being able to use them in their play like “zoom!”. It also encouraged lots of sensory exploration and fine motor development. It was also a great way to develop and explore their attention and focus.
