Forest mud kitchen

The Grasshoppers took part in a highly engaging outdoor learning experience during their visit to the local forest. The session began with a picnic-style snack, where the children enjoyed crackers and warm hot chocolate. The children then immersed themselves in exploratory, sensory-rich play using natural materials. Equipped with metal utensils, they demonstrated curiosity and creativity as they scooped, dug, and mixed mud, filling a variety of containers such as bowls, pots, and pans. This activity supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early problem-solving abilities. The children further enhanced their imaginative play by incorporating leaves, sticks, and acorns into their creations, engaging in role play as they “cooked” and created a variety of cakes, pies and potions!
