Pumpkin Carving

The children had a wonderful time taking part in our pumpkin carving activity! To begin, they used their creativity and imagination to draw different faces on their pumpkins, choosing their own designs and expressions.

Before carving, the children enjoyed exploring the inside of the pumpkins. They were curious to discover what was inside, feeling the slimy seeds and stringy pulp and observing the different textures. This gave them a great opportunity to explore using their senses, ask questions and share their observations with their friends.

Once they had finished exploring, the children used pumpkin carving tools, with adult supervision and support, to help cut out their designs. They were excited to see their ideas come to life and enjoyed watching their pumpkins transform into spooky faces!

This fun, hands-on activity supported the children's creativity, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while encouraging sensory exploration and curiosity. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the autumn season and get into the Halloween spirit.
