Transport Sensory Play

Transport Sensory Play

This week in the baby room, the children have shown a growing interest in transport, particularly diggers and vehicles. To support this interest, we created a sensory play tray using wet sand alongside small diggers and wooden blocks. The babies thoroughly enjoyed exploring the texture of the wet sand, using their hands to feel, squeeze, and move it around. They experimented with placing sand onto the wooden blocks, discovering how it could help them stack and balance them together. This encouraged early problem solving skills and curiosity as they explored cause and effect. The diggers were used enthusiastically, with the babies pushing them through the sand, scooping it up, and watching how it moved and changed shape. This type of play supported their fine motor development as well as hand eye coordination.
Overall, this was a highly engaging activity that allowed the babies to explore their senses, particularly touch and texture, while also building on their interest in transport. It provided opportunities for imaginative play, exploration, and early learning in a fun and meaningful way. Well done babies!
