Pondside Masterpieces

Today, Stars enjoyed a calming and creative outdoor learning experience at the duck pond, where they took part in a still life art activity inspired by our recent life cycle topic. Armed with clipboards, paints, pencils, and plenty of curiosity, the children observed the ducks, water, trees, and reflections before creating their own beautiful artwork.

The activity encouraged the children to slow down, notice details in their environment, and express their ideas creatively through painting and drawing. Some children focused on the ducks swimming across the pond, while others explored colours, shapes, and movement in the water.

The children explored colour mixing, experimented with different artistic techniques, and used their imaginations to represent what they could see. They learned that art can be used to express thoughts, feelings, and observations in their own unique ways. During our visit, the children observed living things in their natural environment and discussed what they noticed about the ducks and pond habitat. They talked about movement, sounds, weather, and seasonal changes, developing their awareness of the world around them. This activity also encouraged rich conversations as the children described what they could see, shared ideas with friends, and listened to each other’s observations.
