Australia Art

As part of our exciting Australian Week, Stars enthusiastically explored the rich culture, music and art of Australia through a range of hands-on learning experiences. The children designed and created their own musical instruments. During the instrument-making process, the children engaged in meaningful discussions and early scientific investigations, predicting which shakers would produce the loudest sounds. They explored how different materials, such as rice and pasta, as well as the size of the bottles, could affect the volume and tone of the instruments. This encouraged the children to develop their problem-solving skills, make observations and test their ideas through play. The children were also introduced to the sounds of the Australian outback and listened to music featuring the didgeridoo, one of the world's oldest wind instruments. The didgeridoo produces distinctive, resonant sounds that have been an important part of cultural storytelling and ceremonies for thousands of years. Inspired by the music, the Stars excitedly shook their handmade instruments and danced around the garden, expressing themselves through movement while developing their coordination and rhythm skills.
