Table golf

Table golf

This week the toddlers interacted in a fun practical activity of table golf. The children’s task was to get the plastic ball plotted into the cup at the end of the table and by doing so, they would need to roll the ball down the aisle made of legos with the intention of reaching the cup.

At first we demonstrated how to carry out the activity, whilst vocalising the instructions to the children so they can gain a better understanding. Two at a time, the children then followed the instructions easily and began rolling the ball down. Some children quickly pushed the ball down which caused it to go down further and some children slowly flicked it forward with their fingers, which made the roll down slower. In the midst of this, the children was given the opportunity to exercise their fine motor skills with the picking up of the ball to the rolling or throwing repeatedly.

Furthermore, the children was able to get an idea of distance measuring, wether the ball was too far or really close to the cup, and know the difference between rolling the ball gently or harder. This encouraged the use of different words too, such as, “more” and “again” to promote the children’s confidence in having another go.

The children had so much fun throughout this activity, wanting to take many attempts and even re position themselves to gain a higher chance of plotting the ball in the cup. They done a really great job!
