Painting Ice Gloves

This week in preschool, we froze water inside gloves to create ice gloves for the children to explore. The children used a varietv of coloured paints to decorate the icy surfaces, observing how the paint spread, blended, and changed as the ice slowly melted. They were fascinated by the different textures and temperatures, describing how the ice felt cold, smooth, and slippery.
This hands-on sensory activity encouraged the children to experiment, make predictions, and talk about what they noticed as the ice changed from a solid to a liquid. They developed their creativity by mixing colours and creating unique patterns while strengthening their fine motor skills through careful painting and brush control.
The experience also promoted curiosity, scientific thinking, and communication as the children shared their observations, asked questions, and explored the concept of melting through play.
