This week the toddlers all engaged in a fun, practical water activity that involved many splashes, retries and bubbles! A strong interest the children share is bubbles and loves to engage in the excitement of it, so we enhanced on that, by not just using a small bubble wand to create them, but swapping it out for extensive materials like a round rope and a hula hoop.
The objective was to test out the different materials and see the results that formed, to start this we filled a large tray with bubble solution and dipped the rope in before pulling it back up in hopes that a big bubble will be created. The children done well taking turns at this, and we found that it wasn’t as successful, however, the children all enjoyed the duration of it and found it interesting that because it’s a bigger equipment to use compared to what they’re used to, they had to use more of a swinging motion when holding the rope for it to work.
Secondly, we used a hula hoop and decided this time to pour in more water for a more watery base, with the intention of creating a solid bubble. We found that this experiment with the hoop was more successful and fun for them too, because they was all given the opportunity to stand in the centre of the hoop and have the bubble formed around them.
Overall, the children were intrigued in cooperating with this bubble experiment and were able to see the differences when using the materials and how they turned out. They socialised together very well and loved getting their feet wet!
