Bread Making: Focaccia

Bread Making: Focaccia
This week's bread making activity saw the children create delicious Italian focaccia bread. Bread making day is always a favourite, and everyone was excited to gather and measure the ingredients.
The children took turns adding each ingredient to their mixing bowls before using spoons to mix everything together into a soft dough. They then eagerly waited for their dough to rise, which took around an hour.
Once the dough had risen, the children enjoyed rolling and flattening it before carefully poking holes across the top. They then sprinkled their focaccia with fragrant rosemary and patiently waited for it to bake in the oven.
When the focaccia was ready, the children were delighted to taste their freshly baked bread. They commented on how soft, warm, and tasty it was, and many were excited to have another piece. The children were incredibly proud of what they had made and thoroughly enjoyed sharing and eating their delicious focaccia together.
This activity helped to develop their measuring, mixing, fine motor, and turn-taking skills while introducing them to a traditional Italian bread.
