World Health Day

World Health Day

In the baby room we celebrated World Health day by looking at our physical and mental health. To do this we explored sensory bags with jelly that we used our hands and fingers to move around the bags revealing hidden emotions and feelings. We also looked at our physical skills and how they help our bodies by taking part in an obstacle  course in the sensory room.

In toddler room we celebrated World Health day by looking out our physical health. To do this the toddlers enjoyed looking out healthy fruits and by this they made their own fruit kebab sticks. The children enjoyed using their fine motor skills and enjoyed naming and cutting the different fruits that was placed on the table. The children then used their pincher grip to the place their fruits into the skewers. The toddlers then enjoyed tasting the fruits and used words such as “yummy” and “nice”. The children then enjoyed using the soft play to climb up and down on them.

In the preschool room we looked at foods that are good for us and how they help our bodies grow and develop.  We learned that the natural sugars in fruit give us energy and dairy is good source of calcium which helps our teeth and bones grow. We then made smoothies using our fine motor skills to cut up the fruits and scoop the yoghurt, we spoke about where the fruits come from and what the individual fruits do to help our bodies, We then drank our smoothies and thought they were so tasty! It was very fun. preschool also learned that some fruit like cucumber and coconut is good for our skin too because they have moisturising properties which keep our skin healthy.

Pre-school was very interactive during this activity and took in a lot of information and was very inquisitive! Well done preschool.
