Love Potions

Th Butterflies celebrated Valentine's day with a love potion activity. They used a wide range of messy play included scents, dried flowers, water beads, jelly baff, water and much more to create their potions. Different textures and smells were mixed together and children were able to explore how the texture and smell changed when items were mixed. Children explored mathematical skill as they used different sized potion bottles, test tubes, measuring cylinders and measuring scoops to tip and pour messy play. exploring weight and capacity as well as shape, space as measure as containers were filled to the top and children managed the spill with increased physical skill. Children took on roles in their play as they used lines from familiar books such as Meg and Mog and Winnie the Witch to cast spells with their love potions.
