Egg Exploration and Risky Play

As part of our life cycle of a duck experiment where we hatched duck eggs the children explored all forms of eggs.

They looked at a variety of different types of eggs such as duck, chick and quail eggs.

They opened them up to see what they looked like inside.

The children noticed that although all the shells looked different the egg was the same inside but varied in size.

The children looked at different ways to crack the eggs.

Different tools were used to crack the eggs such as hammers, screwdrivers and pliers.

The children carefully used the tools to look inside the eggs.

They cracked them both on the light board and over head projector to get a full scale view.

Everyone was very interested in the task.
