Digging for Crystals

The Grasshopper room explored excavating crystals from rocks.

They used a variety of tools to break open the various rocks including drills, hammers and screwdrivers.

Children used deep rooted concentration to manipulate the tools to get to the crystals.

They showed high levels of interest and excitement.

The crystals were excavated carefully and looked at through a variety of microscopes.

The children looked through both the screen and the lens to see the crystals and rocks up close.

Following on from this they added the crystals to a rock polisher.

Making predictions about what might happen to the crystals inside.

They explored a variety of rocks and crystals researching what type of crystal they were.

As well as categorising them into piles.

And matching them to image sin books and on the laptop.
