Gingerbread Man

To continue this month’s topic of fantasy and fiction, Preschool looked at the story of the gingerbread-person. We read and played the interactive version on the touch and tilt. This included putting the events in chronological order and using their hand-eye co-ordination to drag the events to where they were supposed to be. To follow on from this we made our own gingerbread cookies with Chef Bernie, naming the ingredients and mixing them together to make the dough, we smelt the ginger and used words like “strong” and “spicy” to describe the smell.

We then further extended this activity in our individual circle times, the older children wrote letters to the Fox in the story describing why it wasn’t kind to eat the gingerbread man and how it made them feel. The younger did other activities like acting out the stories with puppets using their knowledge of the book they remembered lines to add to their performance, they also made their own gingerbread families using the gingerbread cutters, they did their mummies, daddies, siblings and themselves.

As always preschool had a tremendous week learning through play and other activities, we are so proud of you preschool!
