Toddler twister 🤚 🦶

This week the Toddlers all engaged into a fun & practical activity of twister! The intention behind this was to encourage the children to recognise their hands and feet, which they use everyday and as they grow they show more curiosity.

To prepare, there were some child-size silhouettes of their hands and feet, so the sizings were familiar to them and felt more relatable to them too. It was made up of a variety of different colours also, so the children were given that opportunity to explore and recognise colours.

As they began, some children visually knew straight away what the task was, which was to place their own hands on the cut out hands on the floor, same for their feet. The children rotated and took turns doing all of the hands and feet they saw, some of the cut-outs were angled differently to others which prompted the children to stretch a little further, go into different positions and really encourage them with their physical development. This activity also emphasised on the children’s recognition of their limbs - the use of their arms and legs to reach the silhouettes.
