Bread from Around the World
Week 1 – Scottish Bannocks
This week we hosted our first Bread from Around the World session, where the children explored Scottish Bannocks. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the session so enjoyable. The children explored the ingredients, talked about where Bannocks come from, and had the opportunity to mix, knead, roll and shape the dough. They developed their physical skills through using their hands and tools, practised taking turns and working together, and used mathematical language as they measured and compared ingredients. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to learn about a traditional Scottish bread while building confidence, independence and curiosity through hands-on learning.
