Today, the grasshoppers had a delightful time engaging in a wonderfully messy and risky play activity. With a mix of excitement and curiosity, the children explored various utensils, getting hands-on with mashers, spoons, and even real hammers. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to learn about how these tools work in different ways as they set out to mash potatoes.
As they pushed and smashed the potatoes, the children were able to strengthen their gross motor skills, using their arms and hands to apply just the right amount of power to each push. The real hammers offered an extra layer of learning, and with clear instructions on safety, the grasshoppers quickly understood how to handle them carefully and respectfully during their exploratory play. It was truly heartwarming to see their focus and determination as they engaged with the activity, all while having a great time together.
