Finding Moons and Stars

As part of our topic light and dark the children enjoyed their sensory tray. The children had to use their fine motor skills to fine the hidden stars and moons. They used the binoculars to look through to see the stars hiding. We then counted ‘1,2,3.’ The children then stared using their hands to move the soil away to find the stars. The children then found the stars. The children said, “yellow stars.” The children then started singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle little star’

We then extended this activity by making our own savory stars. The children used their fine motor skills to spread the tomato puree onto their stars. The children then sprinkled the cheese on top of their stars.

We then sent it to the kitchen to let the magic happen.

The children then enjoyed their savory star.
