Clay Diya Lamps!

The Ladybirds had lots of fun celebrating Diwali today! We started by sitting together and listening to the lovely story of Rama and Sita, learning how Diya lamps were used to light the way and guide them home. After our story, the children got busy making their very own diya lamps using clay! They had lots of fun exploring the clay, rolling it in their hands, pinching it, squashing it and shaping it into their own special designs. Every child's diya was unique, and it was lovely to see their little imaginations at work! The children enjoyed getting hands-on, feeling the different textures of the clay and seeing how they could turn a simple piece of clay into something special. After we had made our Diya lamps we lit our candles sat all together reading another story about Diwali. We had such a lovely time learning a little about the meaning and traditions of Diwali through stories and creativity. Well done, Ladybirds!
