This Monday we baked soft Spanish Mollette bread together. The children helped measure and pour the ingredients, stirred the dough, sprinkled flour, and enjoyed kneading it with their hands. We talked about how yeast makes the dough rise and watched it grow before shaping the rolls.
The activity encouraged fine motor skills, sensory exploration, early maths through measuring, and language development as we discussed the baking process. Most importantly, the children enjoyed working together and took pride in helping to make delicious homemade bread.
Once the bread was baked and had cooled, the children enjoyed it as a tasty treat in the garden, making the most of the lovely weather while sharing the bread they had made together.
