World Ocean Day (1)

The Blaze children have spent the morning learning all about the ocean! We started off by learning about the worlds 5 oceans and how each one of them is home to different animals and plants. We then spoke about how some animals are endangered because of rubbish in the ocean and how important it is that we take care of our oceans and their inhabitants! The children then had an array of underwater activities to take part in. In the water trays they had two different ocean environments to investigate and compare where we spoke about how different the animals and climate are. The children also took part in an activity where they had to rescue some sea life that had become entangled in some nets and fishing line and were surrounded by plastic waste! They carefully used tweezers to free the animals and collected the rubbish to safely discard. Some of the children took part in a large group painting where they worked together to add colour and life back into the ocean scene. The children exhibited wonderful teamwork and ended up with a beautiful work of art! Lastly the Blazes could make their own underwater scene using playdough, tools and some small sea creatures. The children showed great imagination and created some beautiful ocean scenes. We have also been reading ocean themed books throughout the morning and enjoyed a fishing game! Well done Blazes!
