Star’s Make Apple Crumble!

Today, the Stars enjoyed making apple crumble! We began by carefully cutting the apples, helping us to develop our physical development and fine motor skills.

We then weighed out each of our ingredients — sugar, butter and plain flour. This gave us lots of opportunities to explore mathematics, including measuring, weighing and talking about quantities. We also talked about each ingredient, what it looked and felt like, supporting our communication and language as we introduced and used new vocabulary.

The children helped to put all the ingredients into one bowl before working together to make the crumble topping. We took turns, shared resources and helped one another, developing our personal, social and emotional skills and learning the importance of teamwork.

As we mixed the ingredients together, we watched how they changed and explored different textures, supporting our understanding of the world. We followed instructions, listened carefully and enjoyed being involved in every stage of the process.

Most importantly, the Star’s had lots of fun learning through this hands-on experience and were very proud of the apple crumble they helped to create!
