This week, Blazes learned all about Eid al-Adha, one of the biggest Muslim celebrations of the year. We learned that this special occasion is about faith, sharing, and kindness. Families gather together to enjoy meals, exchange gifts, and give to charity so that those less fortunate can also have food and clothes. The children took part in several activities linked to Eid. At one table, they explored mehndi patterns by copying designs onto hand templates. We learned that these beautiful patterns are traditionally applied to the hands and feet using henna during celebrations and festivals. In another activity, the children used colourful wooden blocks to create building structures of mosques. We learned that a mosque is a place where Muslims go to pray and celebrate their faith. Lastly, the children made lanterns using card. They used their fine motor skills to carefully cut along the lines and, with adult support, used a hot glue gun to attach the pieces together. We learned that lanterns symbolise light, joy, and community. Well done, Blazes!
