Abstract Art

Abstract Art

This week for our blog activity we used abstract art as our focus. The children used uncooked lasagna sheets as a unique canvas, painting them with vibrant acrylic colors in their own expressive styles. Once the sheets were dry, we carefully broke them into small, irregular pieces to transform them into colorful mosaic tiles. The children then used these fragments to create striking mosaic artwork, arranging the pieces into imaginative, abstract designs. The children enjoyed experimenting and creating their own pictures, telling the adults what they were making, for example one child said “I’m making arrows” another said “I’m making pyramids” and another child said “look I made an elephant!” This process not only sparked their creativity but also introduced them to the concept of abstract art—showing them that beauty and meaning can be found in unexpected forms and through non-traditional materials. Well done preschool!
