This week in preschool, the children explored artwork from new and exciting perspectives. We began by stretching cling film across the tuft tray stand and offering paint and brushes. The children were fascinated by the different strokes their brushes made on the film, watching closely as their movements created colourful marks. Some children mentioned they were “painting their house,” which inspired us to take the experience a step further by inviting them inside the stand to paint “the inside” of their house too!
To build on this idea of perspectival drawing, we then introduced a mindful drawing activity. Sheets of paper were attached underneath the tables, and by adjusting the table heights, children could choose to sit or lie beneath them as they drew. Using pens and pencils this time, the children enjoyed the peacefulness of creating their artwork while looking up, discovering how a change in position can inspire a completely different drawing experience.
It was a wonderfully creative week full of curiosity, imagination, and new ways of seeing the world!
