Autumn Adventures: Exploring the Changing Seasons
This week the toddlers have been fascinated by the shifting weather and the signs of autumn all around us. Our little explorers noticed the cooler air and the colourful leaves falling from the trees, sparking a lively discussion about how the season is changing. To dive deeper into this seasonal shift, we took a trip to the garden, basket in hand, and set off to collect the vibrant autumn leaves scattered across the ground. The children were excited to discover leaves in all sorts of shapes and colours rich reds, golden yellows, and fiery oranges and as they worked together to fill their baskets, we talked about the differences between the leaves and how each one was unique.
Back inside, we brought our autumn treasures to life with a fun and creative art activity. Using autumn coloured paints warm reds, deep oranges, and earthy browns the toddlers dipped their leaves into the paint and created beautiful prints on paper. It was wonderful to see the children experimenting with different techniques and designs, and the joy on their faces as they saw the colourful imprints left by the leaves was priceless! This activity not only helped the children explore the textures and colours of autumn but also encouraged them to express their creativity and teamwork.
As we wrapped up our autumn adventure, the toddlers shared their thoughts about the season, reflecting on the changes they’d observed in nature and what they look forward to in the coming weeks. The excitement in their voices was contagious, and it was clear that their curiosity about the world around them was growing. We look forward to more seasonal discoveries as we continue to celebrate the beauty and wonder of autumn together!
