Brushing Teeth

Brushing Teeth

This week in the toddler room, one of our parents requested a tooth-brushing activity to help encourage the children to practise brushing their teeth at home. The children took part in a lovely hands-on activity using toothbrushes and toothpaste, where they were able to practise the movements we make when brushing our teeth. This supported their physical development, helping them to practise fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while also learning about personal hygiene and self-care. The children demonstrated these movements using toothpaste on tooth flashcards, building their understanding of healthy routines.

We then enjoyed some engaging role play, helping our baby dolls to brush their teeth. This encouraged communication and language development as the children talked about their own experiences at home and explained to their babies how to keep their teeth clean. The role play also supported personal, social and emotional development, as the children showed care, confidence and independence while modelling positive behaviours. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity, and it led to meaningful discussions during circle time, helping to reinforce their learning in a relaxed and enjoyable way. 🪥💬
