Dear Zoo
The toddlers engaged in a sensory exploration of animal habitats, based on the Dear Zoo book. They listened to the story and eagerly pointed out the various animals, recognising them in their respective environments. The tuff tray was set up to represent these natural habitats: blue cornflour symbolised water, sand was used to represent the lion’s environment, and greenery was added to reflect the habitats of the snake and the monkey. Throughout the activity, the children explored different textures, allowing them to interact with materials that represented the animal’s natural surroundings and as some of the toddlers identified animals from the story, they began naming animals and even began making some animal sounds as they played and explored the tuff tray.
Well done toddlers!
